More than a half a million dollars,that's the amount of money Brownsville police found during a routine traffic stop in a blue duffle bag. Brownsville officials confirmed it today.
At around 3:30 yesterday afternoon, officers pulled over a 2007 Chevy Silverado on the 11 hundred block of frontage road. A man, woman and small child inside.
Police say the driver seemed nervous and gave conflicting stories of where he was going with such a large sum of money.
The money was seized pending further investigation.
The driver received tickets for "fail to signal", "no driver's license" and "having a child unrestrained". He was released until further notice.
